To give you a bit of insight on where we are, Quartzsite appears to be a tiny little not-even-a-town just off the highway, completely devoted to RVs. What isn't an RV park is a lot that sells RVs or a store that sells little souvenirs or quaint, family style food. Quartzsite proudly (?) calls itself "The Rock Capital of the World" (yeah - I looked it up!) and I gotta tell you; the photo you see at their website http://www.ci.quartzsite.az.us/ looks a hell of a lot greener than anything we're seeing out our window - though of course, it's late December right now... The people seem to be friendly, salt-of-the-earth sort of folks, and so far, everyone I've met has been helpful and cheery.
As to our acclimating to living the RV life, we're far from there yet. We've been so spoiled by our lifestyle that "roughing it", even in this coach, is taking a lot of getting used to. The bed is hard but we're learning to sleep in it, though because of the way the room is set up, I've got to climb up onto it and crawl across in order to either get into it or make it up in the morning. Not real thrilled about that. The floor collects "stuff" amazingly easily and I've got the broom handy at all times. Even with the slide-out extended, there's not a whole lot of space, so when Dorian decides he wants attention (as he's doing right now) the sound seems magnified and is twice as annoying as it usually is. Tomorrow we're getting his sleeping box out of the storage compartment in the back and reinstating the "Time Out"!
But "nil desperadum", tonight we cooked a hot meal on our 3 burner stove for the very first time. Just spaghetti and meat sauce but hey, it was a first for us! Even cleaning up afterward was a first.
So now we're sitting and computing and sort of just conserving energy. Tomorrow we hit the road for Tucson or thereabouts. Keep your fingers crossed!
Very wise of you to rest when you need to rest. You must be exhausted with all you did leading up to this point. I look forward to your posts as you continue on your journey,
